Analyzes, designs and prioritize work for wwan sub-systems for the organization’s products and systems. Performs requirements definition, system integration and support of WWAN components (Modem, RIL, Framework and UI). Technical knowledge of wireless technologies and protocols such as GSM, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE, with clear understanding of GCF/PTCRB process, mobile operator certification process & regulatory process. Develops, validates, and tests wwan components; structures end user documentation. Determines and pursues courses of action essential in obtaining desired outcomes.


  • Architects, designs, and supports integration and testing of WWAN solutions to several highly-complex technical projects. aNALYZE STANDARDS ( such as 3GPP  and GSMA) and create WWAN specifications for the projects. Leads technology roadmap process. Recommends project approach and goals.
  • Coordinate GCF/PTCRB Certification and Carrier regulatory process (wwan) including pre-test definition, with clear understanding of deltas between chip set and OEM requirements, support troubleshoot/debug of issues and communicate with various teams and labs.  (PTCRB, Sprint, VZW, AT&T, GCF, Field testing, GCF, Metrico, other certification labs) 
  • Design, development and integration of software components into the embedded software system to be used in Android Mobile computers. (Android Framework, applications services & drivers in Java, C, C++, chipset development tools (e.g. QXDM)
  • Champions new thinking and creativity in team members to cultivate and retain top talent. Coaches others on how to effectively develop, communicate, and implement new solutions.
  • Prioritizes quality and seeks out improvements in all aspects of the software projects.
  • Maintains keen awareness of competitor products and development direction to help direct designs to surpass the competition.
  • Uses status as a developer of novel and creative solutions to build business and bring positive attention to technologies and services.
  • With other engineering disciplines, develops next generation ideas and solutions to meet client needs before the competition.
  • Analyzes competitor intellectual property and participates in activities related to protecting intellectual property.
  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups. Serves as organization spokesperson on specialized projects or programs. Acts as prime consultant on large projects that affect the organization’s long-term goals and objectives.
  • Experience with WWAN test equipment such as network simulators and call boxes: R&S CMW500, Agilent 8960. Write software requirements, specifications and documentation including design specifications and test plans.
  • Perform testing of the Wireless Wide Area Network subsystem (both live and Network simulators). Understand the test results and capable to discuss with chip-set manufactures, regulatory / certification labs and carrier labs about the requirements, test results and analysis of the issues.


  • BS in Engineering or related field with 18+ years of experience is required
  • Proven experience working with chip set providers (Qualcomm, Intel, freescale, TI, or others) is required
  • Master in Engineering or related field is a plus
  • Capable of exercising independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Proven experience supervising the activities of others.
