  • Overview

    This position is for an electrical/computer engineer within Zebra Technologies' Chief Technology Office.  This engineer will be a member of a highly skilled and motivated team that develops/innovates businesses and technologies that are new or adjacent to existing Zebra businesses/technologies. The CTO engineering team incubates new ideas and technologies and prepares them for adoption in new or existing solutions and businesses. 


    • Designs, develops, and tests software and firmware to enable new Enterprise Asset Intelligence applications that will help to drive future business growth.
    • Participates in project design reviews.
    • Supports the installation and testing of new systems and solutions developed by the CTO.
    • Documents functionality of new system features.
    • Creates and automates methodologies for testing new sensors.
    • Reviews test results and perform root cause analyses to identify problems.
    • Recommends and implements solutions to complex issues. Insures compliance with quality processes and standards.
    • Makes changes to or upgrades existing electrical designs. Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions.
    • Suggests ways for team to enhance performance and improve productivity.
    • Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems.
    • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. 
    • Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects, or assignments.
    • May provide guidance to non-exempt personnel.
    • Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.
    • Communicates effectively with internal and external partners and customers.
    • Creates and analyzes intellectual property, and participates in activities related to protecting intellectual property.
    • Maintains awareness of competitor products and development efforts to help formulate designs that surpass the competition.
    • Helps to develop next generation ideas and solutions to meet client needs and beat the competition.


    • BS/MS in Computer Engineering or related field.
    • 3+ years of experience 
    • C++ Object oriented programming ability required.
    • Working knowledge of Linux.
    • Experience in developing embedded firmware.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Able to read and interpret circuit schematics.
