Overview

The Senior User Experience Designer develops and implements design concepts, with input as to user interface design considerations and applies software design/usability processes in the investigation of technical problems. This position creates user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, physical manipulation and task and objective analyses. Also will produce specifications describing user interfaces and internal structures for products.

Responsibilities

  • Leads internal design meetings to plan design or design review activities.
  • Completes all phases of design projects on a variety of levels at different complexity.
  • Creates site maps, page flows, interaction models and wireframe specifications to be used by the development team.
  • Conducts research to inform or refine designs. This includes determining research goals, creating a test plan and facilitator's script, recruiting users, executing the study protocol and analyzing the results.
  • Presents work to key stakeholders, developers and designers to effectively communicate design vision and intent.
  • Generates time estimates for the completion of tasks and deliverables.
  • Maintains an understanding in multiple technical areas and a knowledge of latest technology and design techniques.
  • Understands customer needs and reflects those needs in design work.
  • Develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines and other functions, such as sales, manufacturing, and marketing to support customer needs.
  • Mentors other UX designers.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills - in person, written and in presenting
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Online portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of user-centered design and design thinking
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (Sketch, Illustrator, InVision)
  • Familiarity with web languages and libraries (HTML, CSS, Angular, React, etc.)

    • Required Education & Experience: Bachelors degree and 4+ year experience or Masters degree and 2+ year experience
