The Product Manager, Advanced has responsibility for the growth and business success of the assigned product line for the Desktop Printers category.  The role is responsible for developing strategies and managing tactical execution of product growth and development plans. 


  • Comprehensive life cycle management of assigned products, such as printers, software and options and optimization of the market performance of these products in accordance with Company strategic and financial objectives. Reconciles and processes internal and external inputs; establishes product direction, and coordinates and communicates the product plans that will achieve the Company’s goals.


  • Coordinates between departments to ensure marketing and technical requirements will be met for the product line and manages product line maintenance activities to achieve revenue and profit objectives. Monitors product sales, pricing trends and margin levels against forecasted contributions, investigates deviations and contributes to determining and implementing corrective actions.


  • Drives ideation and concept generation for the purpose of new product development, utilizing input and support from Product Marketing, Vertical Marketing and other resources. Develops business cases, Voice of Customer research and Market Requirements Documents independently or in conjunction with Product Marketing.  Directs conceptual studies and generates product and design concepts for new product ideas or significant enhancements of existing products.  Interfaces with engineering in the ideation process to determine feasibility, cost and development estimates for subsequent ROI analysis of proposed development projects.


  • Serves as a core member of new product development teams, working closely with engineering project leadership to ensure they develop products that meet market needs, functional specifications, cost targets and scheduling goals. Also serves as a key member of the product launch team, contributing to launch planning, marketing collateral and communications content.   Drives list pricing decisions utilizing regional input on competitive pricing and support from Product Marketing.


  • Monitors competitive actions and develops competitive analyses including detailed features and benefit comparisons. Provides support to Sales in the form of product presentations and value propositions in relation to end user applications.


  • BA/BS, Engineering degree plus an MBA is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of industry experience, with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of product management experience, managing one or more product lines.
  • Ability to assess complex market landscape and create focused, integrated product plan.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to create and implement product plans, with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, managers, clients and customers.
  • Executive understanding of financial concepts including P&L, balances sheets, and ROI models.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
