  • Overview

    The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the engineering tools platform within Enterprise Mobile Computing organization. The candidate will be responsible for interfacing with internal product development Engineers, industry experts and business stakeholders to determine needs, future trends, and translating them into platform solutions. The candidate should have more than five years of experience in developing internal tools and custom integrations to build an end to end integrated development platform. Candidate should have a solid understanding of the core agile development methodology. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with DevOps best practices and be able to identify and automate manual engineering practices to increase our developer’s efficiency.


    • Requirements Gathering & Feedback: The successful candidate must be able to identify opportunities within the engineering vertical segments for integrated software tooling solutions that can be delivered by the EMC Engineering Tools & Process team.
    • Define and develop software tools automations and self-service for the core Engineering, Program Management, and Product Management group to increase development efficiencies.
    • Develop “Tools Engineering Platform” aligning with the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe) using industry standard development best practices.
    • Help various stakeholders to define use cases and key metrics for developing reporting solutions.
    • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for critical development Tools and provide resolution to complex developer’s issues.
    • Drive the adoption of development standards around source control, unit testing, and continuous integration.
    • Drive, set milestones and own initiatives during the entire project life cycle.
    • Provide recommendations and solutions to problems using experience in multiple technical areas.
    • Applies existing technology in new ways to improve performance and productivity.
    • Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining Tooling solutions.
    • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
    • May influence the activities of junior level personnel (exempt professional and non-exempt).
    • Networks with senior, internal and external, personnel in own area of expertise.


    • Bachelors Degree. Master’s Degree Desired; preferably in the area of Engineering or Computer Science.
    • Must have strong business and system analysis skills and a track record for driving Engineering process improvement with effective results.
    • More than five years of Enterprise software tools, web development and integration working experience as a full stack developer in on-premise and cloud based infrastructure.
    • Solid development skills using, but not limited to Java, Java Script, PHP, Python, JSON, XML, HTML5, Groovy.
    • Solid understanding of MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, and NoSQL (Mongo DB, Casandra)
    • Working experience with API based web integrations such as RESTful.
    • The candidate should have in depth knowledge of Windows and Linux systems administration including automated configuration and orchestration across systems.
    • Proven deployment and implementation of a CI/CD system using Jenkins/Git/Gerrit/ Artifactory/Bintray/Bitbucket or other similar tools
    • Familiar with code analysis tools such as Sonarqube, KlocWork, Coverity etc.
    • Familiar with configuration management and containerization tools such as Ansible, Chef, puppet, docker, docker compose, kubernetes, cloud based solutions such as AWS.
    • Familiar with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana using RESTful and JSON to build reporting solution.
    • Cross functional partnership & leadership skills.
    • Strategic thinking, strong written, oral and presentation skills.
