  • Overview

    This position will drive our supply chain planning processes and develop innovative solutions to solve complex problems that will drive growth, lower cost, improve service and enhance operational effectiveness for our customers.

     

    The Engineering Change Management Implementation Team is being formed to manage part, product and supplier changes throughout the product lifecycle. Knowledge of planning processes and cross-functional execution of product transitions will reduce excess and obsolete inventories and improve customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and product profitability. 

     

    This position will determine the optimal date to transition replacement parts onto a Bill of Material and working across organizations gain consensus to the recommendation

     

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, supply chain and engineering teams to develop an “old” to “new” part transition plan.
    • Identify excess inventories as a result of the transition and generate a mitigation strategy.
    • Represent supply chain team in cross-functional engineering change review meetings. 
    • Work with suppliers to collect “supply and demand” information to establish the transition dates.
    • Work with suppliers to assess, document, and communicate the cost impact of the transition
    • Work with suppliers and Zebra distribution centers to plan and execute reworks as required.
    • Approve Engineering Changes to ensure change record reflects consensus transition plan and supporting evidence is provided.   
    • Manage and adjust the transition dates to minimize excess inventory and scrap costs. Develop mitigation plans to consume old materials.
    • Verify that Engineering Changes are implemented at contract manufacturers on defined cut over date. Update cost impact analysis to capture final cost impact.
    • Collect metrics for management tracking and reporting – plan vs. actual cut over date, plan vs. actual excess inventory/scrap and cost impact.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • 7+ years of experience in a planning, scheduling, production control, business analysis or new product introduction.
    • Experience with planning new product introductions and/or product end of sale and transition to new products.
    • Experience managing part transitions in internal or supplier factories.
    • Ability to navigate through bills of material (BOM explosion, pegging, where used) to determine part demand based on product demand. 
    • Strong analytical and planning skills. 
    • Experience reviewing Engineering Change Orders (ECs, ECOs, ECNs) and executing cut over in factory. 
    • Effectively communication skills with internal and external customers. 
    • MS Office suite experience.
    • Oracle Agile (PDM) and ERP experience a plus
