The design assurance team supports Zebra’s promise of quality to our customers and is responsible for ensuring products meet specifications throughout program phases from components to final product.
Position: Individual Contributor
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Create project level quality plans, in keeping with the Zebra Technology Quality Standards. Assure all organizational level quality goals are consistent with project level goals. Ensure software quality meets criteria for product ship acceptance, in accordance with the quality plan and Release Readiness criteria. Identify deviations from stated organizational goals, standards and processes. Lead Software Quality Reviews for programs in process, perform an analysis and provide feedback of all SW Quality metric deliverables from Development Team and all test organizations. Highlight any quality issues to ensure the program is on the glide path to meet SW product quality release objectives. Ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of cause and effect relation between SW defects and potential impact and consequences to customers, enabling strong customer advocacy support.
For programs in process, perform analysis of quality metrics, analysis of defect root cause and defect risk assessment, input decisions as to prioritization and severity of SW defects, represent customer vantage point for all quality related issues. Consult closely with development and test teams in providing predictive defect charts for SW defect arrival and burndown rate. Assess SW stability according to prescribed methods and Key Performance Indicators in light of Customer Facing attributes. Above activities would require data and metrics gathering as well. Strong ability to countermand scheduling pressure for product release with Quality metrics and use case exceptions in promoting a solid SW Quality focus.
Set up and conduct Release Readiness and other key milestone reviews with the entire end-to-end product team according to prescribed methods. Assure project level quality goals are supported by all functional operation areas. Provide monthly dashboard and metric packages of product and business level data for executive and senior leadership members. Coordinate and manage Quarterly Quality Reviews.
Various other responsibilities would include but not be limited to assisting the Engineering team in defining, set up parameters for Jira/SPR defect reporting system and other SW quality tools such as static analysis tools, requirements management tools and SW code review tools etc.
SW Quality improvement performance will be measured by improvement level in SPR defects per product over time. Our SW Quality organization has achieved close to a 100% improvement YoY in customer SPR defects for our mainline products.
