    We are looking for a Technical Program Manager who is very customer focused and has a passion for driving the end-to-end development of tools and solutions that exceed expectations.  A manager that can drive strategic initiatives as well as product development in realizing our company’s vision.  As a solutions program manager, you are responsible for leading a cross-functional team of Systems/SW Engineers, Test Engineers, Operations, etc. from initial concept to deployment. At the same time, you are challenged to meet program goals for product performance, quality goals, regulatory compliance requirements, cost, schedule, and development budget. You are also responsible for working with Product Management, Marketing, and Experience Designers to define the product, solidify the business case, and author the product and experience specifications. Given our multitude of design and development partners, you will participate with negotiations with Business Development, and Legal.

     

    Your track record must include experience or understanding in developing multi-disciplinary team leadership, collaborating with solution architects and system engineers in product definition/comprehension, deep knowledge of agile practices in the development and execution of program plans, program budget definition/management, management of vendor and contract management, and product deployment.

     

    You must have a strong desire, passion, and ability to understand consumer needs and a willingness to develop holistic product solutions that delight our customers and exceed their expectations.     Responsibilities

    • Team leadership for scaled agile cross functional innovation teams. Contribute and promote the development of agile skillset and capabilities within the wider Zebra advanced development organization.
    • Define strategic initiatives to align the business to agile product development. Work closely with Portfolio Management to ensure strategic goals align and are represented in the innovation feature roadmap.  Track initiatives through the various stages of Portfolio evaluation in a manner that supports the Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) framework (e.g. program manage through vision and proof of concept phases as working examples).
    • Technical excellence in asset intelligence (Location Services, Machine Learning, Machine Vision). Leading cross functional team development in an Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) framework that promotes and embraces innovation across all initiative types (e.g. from incremental to strategic).  Work closely with execution teams (e.g. Agile Release Trains) to ensure practices established in the ALM are consistently followed.
    • Drive minimum viable product (MVP) prototypes toward a proof of business value customer pilot.
    • Initiate strategic partnerships with technology companies (including startups) that are developing adjacent new cutting-edge solution elements.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Define/execute to product feature requirements and write product specifications, including technical documentation
    • Drive execution of solutions inclusive of requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our enterprise experience framework
    • Organize, present, and document technical and program reviews/status to Senior Management.
    • Ensure products meet worldwide regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Execute multi-purpose programs simultaneously utilizing six sigma and project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness.
    • Responsible for adherence to program plan and budgets for large projects. Recommends corrective actions and implements changes. Identifies and mitigates risks; develops and implements risk mitigation plans.
    • Motivates highly collaborative project team to ensure optimal performance.
    • Validate the developing products are reliable and of quality.
    • Develop and protect intellectual property; be well versed with IP fundamentals.
    • Explore and understand competitive landscape in both product and business terms. May assist in the development of business plans, strategies, and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.
    • Acts as project manager - monitoring the program from initiation through delivery including planning and directing schedules and overseeing budget/spending. Gathers input from the project team and acts independently to develop a Project Plan for projects of moderate to significant scope which may include novel products or services. Uses established tools, approaches / methodologies and templates to guide and document the plan and communicate it to the team. Gathers feedback from the team to revise and complete the Project Plan as needed
    • May lead multiple limited to moderate scope projects simultaneously, or manage part of a larger program directly or through oversight of less senior program managers. Programs may be moderate to complex in nature or one large program with cross-functional teams in numerous locations and timezones or significantly longer in duration.
    • Nominates and solicits participation of team members from key stakeholder teams including Offer /Product Management, Engineering, Service / support and other functional groups, set timelines and budgets independently. Acts independently to coach team members to success or replace team members as needed. Oversees the work of the project team (indirectly supervises) involving members from a wide range of disciplines including engineering, marketing, and operations.
    • Organizes cross-functional activities, ensuring completion of the program i.e. product on schedule and within budget constraints. Owns regular meeting coordination, facilitation and documentation of progress.
    • Gathers status updates from the project team and interprets inputs from the team to assemble a consolidated view of status. Provides regular status updates to senior management as directed. Status reports are expected to be concise summaries, tailored to the audience which may include VP level team members. Owns ensuring alignment from key leaders of milestone achievement before moving the program forward.
    • Recognized as an "expert" in the business function and processes in which the program is operating. Can use business/process expertise to identify potential issues, challenge assumptions and effectively participate in solutions discussions. Able to use this knowledge in status updates and presentations, and provide clarifying information where necessary.
    • Provides assistance with coordination of deliverables and project assets to assist the project team. Personally addresses obstacles or issues that are moderate to significant in severity and escalates complex issues to management for assistance. Independently engages additional resources as needed to address obstacles or delays. Adjusts the plan per management guidelines as delays or obstacles are experienced.
    • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge / application of basic Program Management techniques and approaches including familitarity with vocabularly. Effectively uses project management tools in scheduling and staffing plans, with an understanding of task durations and dependencies. Develops exhaustive risk management plans. Uses advanced techniques such as Monte Carlo Analysis to determine high-likelihood program durations. Performs critical path analysis to optimize the schedule and minimize the overall duration of the program
    • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge of PMI PMBOK and advanced Project/Program Management techniques and approaches. Able to review a number of Project Management techniques and select the most effective ones based on project context. Working knowledge of leading-edge technologies such as Monte Carlo schedule analysis, Critical Chain management, etc. Experience with a broad array of project management tools and technologies.
    • Demonstrates advanced understanding of development processes and product launch scope and actvities. Uses experience and knowledge to identify and recommend process improvements.
    • Very limited supervision by management is expected in this position for complex or novel problems.
    • May directly supervise one or more level 1 or level 2 Program Managers
    • Supports early stage go to market activities and transition to marketing

    Qualifications

    • BS/MS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree with 10+ years Engineering/Program management and Scrum Master experience for products in fast paced environment.
    • Understand Cloud development and Software/Services development integration.
    • Experience in mobile application development for Android, Windows CE and/or iOS.
    • Experience with Data Service Platform Software Development.
    • Experience leading 40+ developer size teams containing highly specialized expertise without a detailed understanding of solution requirements. Able to thrive in unknowns while creating solutions from skeleton use cases.
    • Full responsibility for at least five significant delivered-to-market solutions in high performance, consumer products industries.
    • Self-motivated, results driven, manages risks, and thrives in an environment of uncertainty and continuous innovation
    • Strong strategic leadership and analytical skills
    • Intermediate to advanced communication and facilitation skills. Formal training preferred
    • Intermediate to advanced presentation skills. Demonstrated comfort in presenting to mid to senior level cross functional audiences.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of advanced concepts with program management approaches, tools and methodologies. PMP certification preferred
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in PC based documentation tools including MS Office and MS Project
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in delegation and follow up
    • Demonstrated expert knowledge / experience  of technical business units assigned to (Hardware, Software, Services, etc)
