  • Overview

    The Product Manager (SPM) has the same three broad areas of responsibility assigned to the Product Manager: (1) drive product development, by ensuring that products meet spec and get created, tested and shipped on time; (2) create and execute marketing tactics and programs that achieve revenue and profit objectives; and (3) manage product line maintenance activities and assigned administrative tasks.

    Responsibilities

    . Strategy & Planning

    • Understand market and competitive dynamics
    • Create SWOT analysis for the product line, portfolio
    • Ability to lead voice of customer and distill key customer needs for specific market segments
    • Develop product line strategy consistent with Card portfolio strategy and Zebra strategy
    • Propose product roadmap in support of product line strategy
    • Obtain/conduct analyses of competitors' products to support product planning, design, and positioning activities
    • Detailed understanding of the vertical markets particularly relevant for this product line
    •  
    1. New Product Realization
    • Coordinate and champion product development activities; negotiate design trade-offs with Engineering in the development of product specifications and test plans
    • Develop specific go-to-market plan for the product
    • Assure that products are developed on schedule, within budget, and meet functional and unit cost specifications  
    • Develop pricing proposal and review with executive team & regional teams including margin analysis as compared to competitive pricing
    • Manage the preparation/distribution of product sales literature, service documentation, training materials, etc.
    • Plan and coordinate the development and introduction of product enhancements to extend/maximize product life/profitability

     

    1. Product Line Administration
    • Monitor product sales & pricing trends, and margin levels against forecasted contributions
    • Investigate deviations from forecast and determine appropriate responses
    • Prepare analyses and format data to support the annual budgeting process
    • Operate within expense and capital budgets
    • Identify, assess and correct product defects
    • Resolve technical, supplies and product sales/support issues
    • Select/coordinate cost-reduction, maintenance-of-line and custom-order activities

     

    1. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required

     

    • Bachelor's Degree 
    • 2+ year of managing one or more industrial product lines 
    • Demonstrated excellence in leading cross-functional teams and managing product line programs, and instilling in senior management a high level of trust and confidence in his/her business judgment and conduct.
    • Proven track record of turning around, maintaining, or increasing product margins
    • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills
    • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
    • Demonstrated high degree of initiative
    • Ability to create detailed financial analysis
    • Team player - Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of Management

    Desired

    • Understanding of Card Printing market, technology etc.
    • Understanding of market requirements for card solutions in Financial, Education, Retail or Health Care segments
    • Sales and/or channel marketing and/or marketing communications experience
    • Other broad or unconventional experiences, such as working in an international company, especially in an overseas assignment, or foreign travel
    • Proven track record of risk-taking
    • High degree of curiosity, creativity, intuition, and street smarts
    • Foreign language skills
    • Coolness under fire
