  • Overview

    The North American Quality Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling the Operational Quality function relating to the assurance of the quality of incoming and outgoing product quality and customer satisfaction within a specific site or geography.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage timely and effective operations audits, assessments, and inspections.
    • Partner with internal customers to help them achieve their goals, i.e., Purchasing, Manufacturing, etc. and to drive common practices across all locations.
    • Monitor on-site quality operations to evade quality/product alerts and stop ships.
    • Partners with local staff to swiftly resolve, prevent loss of sales and revenue for Zebra.
    • Ensure incoming material/product quality consistently meets all Zebra requirements defined in the drawings, specifications and purchase orders.
    • Develop timely and accurate operations performance reports for delivery and quality in order to provide effective feedback.
    • Conduct timely and effective MRB reviews (in-process-WIP and incoming non-conformances) that 1) assure the continued integrity of the process and 2) initiate the proper corrective action and feedback, as necessary.
    • Provide training to key resources, as needed, to assure high quality components and assemblies.
    • Effective utilization of quality engineering tools (statistical process control, capability studies, etc) to assess in-house processes and capabilities.
    • Effective use and control of a Dock-to-Stock program to meet company goals.
    • Manage documentation and timely completion of effective Material Inspection Instructions (MII’s) to support Receiving Inspection and align the inspections methods between our suppliers and our company.
    • Handle timely and effective failure analysis investigations into quality issues.
    • Conduct product outgoing quality audits that provide useful information to the stakeholders in a timely manner.
    • Maintain an accurate, timely and cost-effective equipment calibration program.
    • Assist in the standardization of quality policies and procedures.
    • Support ISO audits, as required.
    • Provide leadership and support for a Lean environment.

    Qualifications

    • Preferred Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree  
    • Preferred Work Experience (years):
      • 6+ years experience including minimum 2 years as team lead / supervisor. Certified Black Belt preferred.
    • Key Skills and Competencies:
      • Proficient in root-cause analysis based corrective action process, SPC, Cp/CpK, Design of Experiments, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Six Sigma, etc.
      • Demonstrated leadership and initiative.
      • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO quality systems
      • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing/six sigma tools and concepts
      • Superior problem-solving skills
      • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
