  • Overview

    Responsible for all aspects of the development and commercial release of mobile computing WAN enabled devices. Manages interdepartmental and cross-functional team activities, Will be focused on delivering new or upgraded existing products or services.  Manages projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance.  Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics. Participates in project review and status meetings, and communicates project status. Motivates project teams to ensure optimal performance.  May assist and drive the development of business plans, strategies, and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    • Overall responsibility for the planning, development and execution of the development plan from the initial product requirements phase to final certification and commercial release.
    • Comprehensive product development plans including schedules, budgets and resource planning for both internal and external partner needs for WAN enabled devices.
    • Candidate must be knowledgeable in product design requirements, product costing, product qualification, global regulatory & network carriers to achieve all phases of development leading up to final certification and commercial release.
      Manage JDM product development including NRE negotiations and scheduling of activities.
    • Responsible for managing large global project teams across multiple regions
    • Identifies and manages program enhancements and process improvements. Conducts project reviews through the life of the project.
    • Responsible for direct communication to relevant senior level management & stakeholders. Leads moderately-complex communications and/or negotiations with internal or external clients.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. Engineering degree with MBA preferred
    • Minimum of 10 years experience in the wireless industry in a program management role
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in program management of cellular telephone projects that were delivered to AT&T, Verizon Wireless, or Sprint Nextel
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Strong organization skills and with attention to detail
    • Working knowledge of 3GPP and 3GPP2 requirements, GCF and PTCRB requirements and certification processes; plus certification requirements and processes of major carriers around the world including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Telefonica, and Orange.
    • A general understanding of wireless communications, networking, RF and Agile software development.
    • Experience in MS Project, Word and Excel, Power Point
    • Ability to travel locally and internationally.
    • Position based in Austin Texas.
    • Open to candidates living outside of Texas with willingness to travel up to 50%.
