  • Overview

    Government Business Development Manager leverages in-depth product knowledge with domain expertise of government product certifications and bid processes to help position Zebra, Zebra sellers and Zebra partners to win government sales opportunities. 

    Develops and executes strategy for government market with manager’s input; develops strong relationships with key customer contacts and leverages to Zebra’s advantage; creates and delivers high impact sales presentations and capable of product training; often used for those with strong technical background but limited sales experience. As required, leverages relationships with other business units and/or external partners to deliver solution; Develops strong relationships with key decision makers and influencers.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and executes strategy for government market
      • Development of both FED/SLED , with particular focus on the Public Safety market
      • Input on creation of product roadmap for public sector, with emphasis on relevant sub-verticals
      • Development, in conjunction with GOV Sales Leader, the sales routes to market, marketing, demand generation and channel development
    • Government liaison between product teams and sales organization. 
      • Maintain complete product roadmap for Government Agency customers and prospective government customers as a contractual vendor requirement with government entities.  
      • Single point of contact for customers, account managers and custom products group for all unique government requests for customization of Zebra products to meet agency requirements
      • Identifies and maintains current TAA/FIPS compliant product list to share with customers
      • Acts as the voice of the customer on specific product needs with all Product teams (e.g. OS plans, TAA/FIPS on specific form factors, FirstNet, etc.)
      • Works with marketing as appropriate as SME on Government applications and use case development
    • Single point of contact on all product technical compliance requests associated with government bids, RFIs and RFPs
      • Responds to and manages all government requests for technical specifications on Zebra products that are required on most bids and opportunities.  Provides technical responses by coordinating information supplied from Zebra product teams.   
      • Responsible for communicating certification requirements and customer requests with the product team, working with customer and product management to ensure Zebra compliance on all opportunities.
      • Technical resource to Contracts team that responds/completes all RFPs.  Government Business Development manager provides technical content for all RFPs and RFIs to ensure Zebra products are properly evaluated and considered in applicable government bids.

    Qualifications

    • Preferred Education:
      • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering required.  
    • Preferred Work Experience (years):
      • 8+ years of experience; at least 2 years of management experience.
    • Key Skills and Competencies:
      • In-depth knowledge of Federal, State and Local government procurement practices and certification requirements of manufacturers
      • Comprehensive understanding of marketing and business development. 
      • Demonstrated technical proficiency in advanced data capture, mobile computing solutions, or wireless technologies.
      • Requires business acumen.
