We are looking for an experienced technical leader to join our Austin large screen rugged tablet and Microsoft Windows rugged products center of excellence. If you are experienced in technical lab setup including hardware devices, mobile devices, sensors, mobile software, simulation software there is a challenging and rewarding position ready for you. The ideal candidate will install, test and manage several solutions in our engineering validation labs. This is a technically challenging role working with leading technologies and solutions. We are looking for an experienced technical leader to align new lab environments with industry best practices and quality. Key elements of the role include streamlining and enhancing setup capabilities within our engineering development labs, physical and remote installs of software, upgrades, software installations and orchestrating the actual test with other engineering and QA teams.
Manage lab to support multiple projects for cross-functional teams focused on the delivery based on timeline Must be able to setup and coordinate physical lab environments. Communicate and work closely with facility, vendor, DevOps/Sysops teams, quality teams, external participants & stakeholders Perform solution evaluations in the lab and run performance testing and analysis. Refine and update standard lab procedures, develop and modify solution test plans as needed to improve performance and reliability of our solutions Prepare detailed test reports for management review Ensures the lab and engineering groups supports sales and product marketing activities including providing test specifications and technical presentations to satisfies the customer Understand, support and contribute to improve quality procedures and reporting Work with the team to implement monitoring tools and procedures Work cross-functionally with different development teams Sustaining engineering for legacy products, such as XSLATE B10, R12, XSLATE D10, Bobcat, F5M and C5M. Qualify replacement components solutions for EOL situations Lead regular ODM/JDM conference calls to organize activities, and write action plans Write ECO and or ECN as appropriate Solve level 2 customer issues with root cause methodology, both hardware and software. Includes limited travel to customer sites Oversee calibration.
Keep lab equipment in working order.
Arrange for moving our lab to new facility when appropriate.
Order supplies as needed
Work with level 1 staff, service team, and call center including product training.
Support Operations Team with product demo activities Engage in product development activities in support of Product and Development Manager
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
5 Years minimum experience in solution engineering, technical lab management.
5+ years of professional experience in a leading cross functional engineering team.
3+ years of lab management experience, lab organization, knowledge of lab safety and best lab practices.
Hands on experience with mobile devices, sensors, OS installs, software installs Proven project management skills to manage and complete several large projects simultaneously, which require support several different sources Excellent problem solving, analytical skills, and technical troubleshooting skills down to component levels
