    The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering organization department works closely with various Zebra Supply Chain teams and its suppliers to successfully integrate new products into the Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) factories. The team works closely with the product development Engineers to improve Design for Excellence (DFx) Design for Assembly/Manufacturing and ensure high quality and high yield production in the factory. Manufacturing Process Engineers work closely with manufacturing partners to successfully implement new product introductions to the factory.


    This role will assist with leading innovation for high tech manufacturing processes aligned with emerging advanced manufacturing industry trends, and leverage Zebra’s Lean Six Sigma methodology framework to improve quality, reduce cost, improve lead time, and increase efficiency.


    • Manages a regional based Engineering team and Supply Chain Operations team to support New Product Introductions (NPI). Responsible for selecting, developing, and retaining talent. Responsible for compensation planning, performance management, and providing direction for the teams’ progress and output.
    • Participates in design reviews and prototype builds with full engagement and manufacturing technical support, to assess and provide support to the team for DFx input, manufacturing process development, and escalate issues as necessary.
    • Implement the Supply Chain and Services strategy established by leadership by translating it into tactical objectives for the team.
    • Establishes and assures adherence to program plan and budgets for all projects. Recommends corrective actions and implements changes for New Product Introduction manufacturing support plan. Identifies and mitigates risks; develops and implements risk mitigation plans. Exercises full supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing.
    • Lead a team of Manufacturing Process Engineers and collaborate with other functional teams to ensure strong execution along with the NPI process.
    • Provide effective leadership to ensure effective communication, coordination, and cooperation within the Supply Chain Operations team, including areas not directly under the lead’s control.
    • Responsible for direct communication to relevant senior stakeholders by means of weekly status reports, monthly operations review readouts, etc.
    • Drive the Zebra Lean Six Sigma approach with our JDM and EMS partners. Implement Lean processes during the NPI phase.


    Preferred Education: A BA/BS degree in an Engineering Discipline or relevant technology, from an accredited college or university is preferred


    Preferred Work Experience (years): Minimum of 12 years of experience including minimum 5 years managing technical teams


    Key Skills and Competencies:


    • Strong leadership qualities that will enable the candidate to lead and influence cross functional teams across Supply Chain and Engineering.
    • Candidate must be self-motivated and have ability to access and plan his/her schedule according to business priorities.
    • Experience managing technical teams and managing relationships with key manufacturing suppliers.
    • Must be able to Manage challenging supplier relationships.
    • Manufacturing Process Engineering experience in the electronics manufacturing area, including SMT manufacturing. Optical manufacturing experience a plus.
    • Understanding of manufacturing Quality and Industrial Engineering tools / processes (PFMEA, control plans, error-proofing processes/fixtures, MSA, SPC, Ppk, Cpk analysis, Line Balancing / layout, std. times, etc.)
    •  Must work collaboratively with Design Engineering disciplines throughout NPI development lifecycle.
    •  Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma is required.
    •  Strong oral and written communication.
    • Must be able to travel domestic and international as necessary.
