    Overview:  Zebra Technologies is looking for an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join the Engineering IT Team to learn, manage and improve End to End Architecture, Deployment, and Support for the Mechanical Engineering product development processes, applications, and systems.  The Zebra’s Engineering IT team is responsible for solution expertise and managing end to end critical engineering processes, design applications, and system architecture. This includes strong partnership with engineering community to meet their current and future business strategies. The team also is responsible for the research, analysis, requirements, design, coding, testing, and integration of software features, and all software management, integration and validation activities to support Zebra’s engineering teams. In addition, the team provides technical and other leadership in working through issues with other teams and follow up of issues to conclusion.



    Participate with the team to provide solution guidance for mechanical engineering applications and processes.

    Participate with the team to partner with mechanical engineering community to define overall process and application solution sets

    Requirements gathering and documentation to evaluate, develop, deploy and support mechanical engineering applications, architecture, processes, and integrations with other engineering and business processes and applications.

    Partner with engineering to deploy processes and applications

    Partner with engineering to support processes and applications

    Create and maintain User Guides, install procedures, informational websites and other supporting content.

    Application configuration and coding to support the automation and custom integrations improving the Engineering design experience.

    Provides operation support to resolution and escalates incidents based on priority and time frame to senior IT management and senior business customers.

    Maintains communications plan with engineering regarding application roadmaps, the status of problems/incidents, and project plans/status.

    Partner with Engineering and other IT teams on related projects and initiatives to coordinate and perform cross-functional activities.


    Bachelors Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.  MS degree a plus.

    Preferred but not required 2 years’ experience in engineering design and mechanical design applications

    Engineering application evaluation, configuration, test, deployment and support

    Programming and scripting experience a plus especially with Windows scripting and Perl/Python languages.

    The ability to understand engineering design business processes – from concept to design to release to support to end of life.

    Strong communicate skills to effectively with work with engineering business and IT partners

    Team leadership & project management skills

    Interest in learning or experience with the following:

    • Mechanical Design processes and tools – PTC Creo for design and library development
    • Mechanical Data Management processes and tools such as PTC PDMLink and ProjectLink
    • Thermal Analysis processes and tools such as Solidworks
    • Structural Design processes and tools such as PTC Structural Simluation, Dassault Systems Abaqus, Altair Hyperworks
    • Moldflow/Process Design processes and tools such as AutoDesk MoldFlow
    • Industrial Design, Rendering and Surfacing processes and tools such as Alias, SketchBook, Invision, Keyshot
    • Design for Manufacturing processes and tools such as Geometric Am DFMPro, Boothroyd Dewhurst DFMA
