    The Senior Manager Systems Engineer leads the Systems Engineering function for Enterprise Software business unit. Develops, designs, evaluates, and/or modifies systems consistent with customer, product, operational, and regulatory requirements. Develops system architecture, and ensures the integrity of the architecture/design. Evaluates work upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Resolves and develops approach to solutions ensuring that Critical Success Factors meet the requirements of Customer Facing Attributes and ongoing Customer Success Management. Performs all roles in configuring, leading, automating, securing and improving Enterprise Software solution deployments, data services, and end-to-end system operations. Understands and implements automation technology and how it is best applied to reach a continuous deployment, continuous automation goal. Builds automation scripts, performance tests, and monitoring tools capable of operating solutions with minimal manual maintenance. Serves as engineering resource closest to customer and partner for Enterprise Software, relevant Intelligent Edge Solutions, and the Zebra Savanna platform. Works effectivity in a global environment supporting high-demand solutions.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Directs and controls the activities of several departments in a functional discipline within a product group, division, sub-region or country
    • Contributes to the development of policy innovation and coordinated business solutions with input into strategy formulation. Leads programs and/or strategic initiatives
    • Develops and establishes operational policies within area managed, and delegates assignments. Accountable for and contributes significantly toward profitability and/or cost containment by indirectly impacting the P&L through Account, Product Line, Research and Development, Operations or functional management
    • Develops and implements programs/solutions to improve processes, reduce costs and cycle time, and improve customer service
    • Internally recognized leader who exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
    • Advanced knowledge in function, product, technology service, strategy, and business complexities in order to contribute to the development of creative solutions in area of expertise
    • Use nearshoring and offshoring as required
    • Provide technical leadership across Zebra including running the ZAF and other cross company collaboration initiatives
    • Lead engineers with database skills (BigQuery, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra)
    • Lead engineers with open source infrastructure skils such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines and related tools
    • Lead engineers with skills running front-end applications like Apigee, Istio, load balancers, web servers in production environment

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate computer science or engineering discipline preferred
    • Bachelor's +8 years experience with a focus on systems engineering, site reliability engineering, and enterprise architecture
    • Masters +6 years experience with a focus on systems engineering, site reliability engineering, and enterprise architecture
    • 8 years of engineering experience with a focus on systems engineering, site reliability engineering, and enterprise architecture
    • 5 years leading engineers and technical managers
    • Skilled in cloud technologies, serverless function-as-a-service, Google Cloud Platform, automated continuous integration/continuous deployment
    • Proven experience operating a 24x7 operational environment and establishing automated and manual support centers
    • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory, intellectual property, and security policy environments
    • Proven experience establishing and managing off-shore and near-shore engineering teams
    • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.
    • Must be able to code in prevailing technologies including Java, Spark, Spring, Python, SQL including hands-on expertise with cloud native solutions from AWS, Azure, and Google.
    • Proven abilities delivering operating environments on native Google PaaS and Kubernetes that leverage IOT technologies.
    • Experience with scripting, development, and operations tools
