  • Overview

    Zebra’s Software Engineering Applications team provides process and tools expertise and manages the end to end
    critical engineering process & design applications. This includes strong partnership with engineering community to
    meet their current and future business strategies as well as IT to jointly architect the underlying hosting technologies.
    The team also is responsible for the research, analysis, requirements, design, coding, testing, and integration of
    application features, and all software management, integration and validation activities to support Zebra’s engineering
    systems and deployment. In addition, the team provides technical as well as functional leadership in resolving issues
    and delivering consistent solutions across multiple business units and product teams.


    • Lead a team to support Engineering Applications processes and tools
    • Will have budget responsibility for the team.
    •  Drive a culture of continuous improvement by driving new technologies and tools to support business
    • Provide Software engineering application thought leadership and solution guidanc
    •  Partner with Software engineering community to define overall process and application solution sets
    • Define short- and long-term process and application strategies and obtain appropriate approvals from senior
    • Define overall Software engineering application and process architecture and ensure integration efficiencies
      with other engineering processes and applications
    • Continuously perform systems/operations and workflow analysis to identify quality/performance
    • Teach and deploy lean business improvement methods
    • Perform financial analysis/decision support for implementing new processes or tool sets.
    • Partner with engineering and IT to deploy and support processes and applications
    • Gather requirement and documentation to support application design and test activities
    • Configure applications and coding to support the engineering business processes
    • Provide operation support to resolution and escalates incidents based on priority and time frame to senior
      engineering management and senior business customers
    • Maintain communication plans with engineering regarding application roadmaps, the status of
      problems/incidents, and project plans/status
    • Manage vendor relationships and ongoing license optimization while influencing road map discussions
      occurring throughout the business


    Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent, Masters Degree preferred


    Preferred Work Experience (years): 12+ years’ experience in engineering design and software design applications


    Key Skills and Competencies:


    •  Engineering application selection, configuration, test,
      deployment and support
    • Software Design processes and tools including but not limited
      to Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, Polarion, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins,
      Clear Case
    • Deployment of software design tools using Cloud infrastructure
      services (i.e. VMs, containers…) such as AWS, GCP, and/or
    • Deployment of software design tools using vendor-hosted SaaS
    • Architecting and implementing solution using agile software
      development and CI/CD delivery methodologies
    • Thorough understanding of engineering design business
      processes - from concept to design to release to support to end
      of life.
    • Strong communication skills to effectively with work with
      engineering team, engineering management and IT partners
    • Team leadership & project management skills
    • JDM process and coordination
    • Project management, training, coaching and facilitation
